Convert to Christianity: How to Do It

Christianity is the largest religious group globally and 31% of the world’s population practices Christianity. If you want to join these ranks and convert to Christianity, you’re in the right place.

When you decide to become a Christian, follow these steps to accept Christ into your life and convert to a new religion.

Believe

The first step is to believe that you are a child of God and that He loves you. In order to believe, you need to follow the word of God as shared in the Bible.

According to the principles of Christianity, God knows us and loves us immediately and nothing we do could make Him love us less. You can start reading the Bible, attending Bible study groups, or simply start attending church services to begin following His word.

Repent

Once you begin following the word of God and believe, you must repent. To repent means to be sorry for the sins that you have committed and, most importantly, to turn away from sin.

To repent you must acknowledge your sins and vow to stop committing sins. While no one is perfect, and we are all sinners, repentance calls for your best effort to turn away from since and follow the word of God.

Acts 16:31 tells us “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.”

Confess

Proverbs 28:13 says “Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.”

You must not just acknowledge your sins, but you must confess them so that you can be forgiven and demonstrate your repentance. Confession may involve a formal process where you confess your sins to a priest, pastor, or another member of the clergy.

Commit Your Life to Christ

Part of committing your life to Christ is accepting Him into your life and becoming Baptized. In Acts 2:38, 39, the Bible tells us: “Repent, and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins may be forgiven. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”

When we are baptized, the Holy Spirit enters our hearts and we commit our lives to Jesus. The Spirit then works within us to help us become true followers of Him. Committing yourself to the community and your church could include raising money for a steeple from American Steeples and Baptistries.
